How to fix network problems on your iPhone

Resolve network problems on your iPhone with our expert tips. From checking coverage to adjusting settings, iRepairs guides you step by step.

How to fix network problems on your iPhone

Does your iPhone show “No Service”, “Searching” or “SOS”? These notices usually appear when there are mobile network failures, configuration errors or issues with the SIM card or eSIM. At iRepairs we guide you step by step to recover the connection and the stability of your network in a simple way.

In most cases, these failures are solved by adjusting basic settings or resetting the signal. When that is not the case, it may be due to a failure of the internal modem, a pending update or a misconfigured eSIM. Here we explain how to act.

Solve the network problems of your iPhone step by step

Check the coverage and the network status

Before making changes, make sure you are in an area with stable coverage. If “No Service” or “Searching” appears, turn cellular data off and on from Settings > Cellular. This forces a quick reconnection to the antenna.

If you travel abroad, check data roaming in Settings > Cellular > Options > Data Roaming. An incorrect setting can leave you without a connection even if the network is available.

If you use Wi-Fi, restart the router. Turn it off, wait about 10 seconds and turn it back on. This action usually solves micro-cuts and restores network stability.

End of support for 3G networks at international carriers

In recent years, many carriers —including AT&T in the US— have permanently shut down their 3G networks. If you use a very old iPhone or one that is still configured on 3G, you may experience connection failures when traveling or when using international cards.

If your iPhone is a model compatible with 4G/LTE or 5G, go to Settings > Cellular and select the most advanced network available. In addition, confirm that the device is updated to the latest version of iOS.

Restart the iPhone

A restart can fix occasional network failures, signal cuts or internal modem blocks. If you do not remember how to do it, press and hold the side buttons and follow the on-screen instructions to turn the device off and on.

Update the carrier settings

Apple periodically releases updates to improve compatibility with mobile networks. To check them, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data and go to Settings > General > About. If an update is available, a notice will appear to install it.

Disable and enable your mobile line

In Settings > Cellular check that your line is enabled. If it does not appear, you may need to set up an eSIM or insert a physical SIM card. An error in the activation can cause the iPhone not to register the network.

Reset the network settings

If the failures persist, try resetting the network settings from:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

This process erases saved Wi-Fi networks, passwords, cellular data settings and VPN configurations, allowing the system to rebuild the connection from scratch.

Update iOS to the most recent version

The latest iOS updates include improvements in network stability, eSIM optimization and critical fixes. Keep your device updated from Settings > General > Software Update.

Consult a specialized technical service

If after all the steps you still have no signal or the iPhone disconnects constantly, there may be a problem in the antenna, the network modem or the SIM tray. In those cases, the ideal is to go to a specialist.
